School History

Consultation in relation to a new site for Melville Primary School began in 2002. Building commenced in 2004 and the finished site was handed over on 20th May 2005. The old school site has now been developed into a spectacular community open space called Kadidjiny Park which is often used by staff and students to enhance the teaching and learning program.

The new school now consists of 18 primary classrooms plus two transportable classrooms, six early childhood education rooms plus a modern centralised resource centre with science and art rooms attached. A fully enclosed covered area encompasses a sports store room, gardener's amenities, a canteen, uniform shop and a stage with an adjacent specialist music room.

The administration block is entered via Curtis Road and includes all staff amenities. Conveniently, a wireless network covers the entire site. All classrooms have interactive white boards.

Extensive early childhood, junior and upper primary play areas have been developed. A multi-purpose hard court area is surrounded by extensive grassed areas and an oval which is jointly maintained by the City of Melville.

The broader community provide outstanding support by way of social and fundraising ventures. Our superb playgrounds and facilities are due to contributions and fundraising by the parents and local community.
